APPOINTMENT: Soo is new Country President for Schneider Electric Malaysia

Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management, has appointed new country president for Schneider Electric Malaysia to support its growth in the country.

Soo Pow Leong takes up the post in Malaysia following a two-year stint as Schneider Electric Vice President, ETO (Engineering to Order) in China previously. The appointment of Soo, a Malaysian national, follows the relocation of industry veteran Peter Cave to Australia who held this key position in the energy management industry for the past three years.

Schneider Electric zone president of East Asia, Zeljko Kosanovic, said the appointment would ensure the business’ continuing expansion and progress in Malaysia.

“Soo has over 20 years of experience in the electrical distribution industry. He has also taken on various roles from project management, commercial sales to strategy and marketing in France and China. In the past two years, he led Schneider Electric’s Equipment Cluster in Asia Pacific where he managed seven equipment plants located in five countries and finally in 2013, heading the ETO (Engineering to Order) business in China.”

“Soo’s experience in leading organisations through change management that resulted in corporate growth, makes him the ideal candidate to lead Schneider Electric Malaysia,” adds Zeljko. “With his passion and commitment to excellence, Soo’s leadership will continue to guide and adapt the business in this ever-changing economic environment; and create awareness and preference for the Schneider Electric brand.”

In his new role as country president of Schneider Electric Malaysia, Soo will oversee all strategic initiatives and operational efficiency in the country while leading the company towards successful revenue and organic growth.

With the recent announcement of energy tariff hike in Malaysia, Soo believes that Schneider Electric Malaysia is in the best position to help organisations as well as individuals make the most of their energy. He aspires to drive the Malaysian team to deliver the energy efficiency to local businesses in order to achieve carbon footprint reduction and sustainability.

“This is a timely reminder for businesses to re-consider their operating strategies and start looking into long-term energy efficiency solutions to turn the tide around. While the tariff hikes may put a dent on financial record in many organisations, this adversity can be channeled into an investment with appropriate energy management standards.

“The hallmark of Schneider Electric is the way we deliver to our customers genuinely to help people and our commitment to be the architect of efficiency in every sector of Malaysian economy,” said Soo.
