Sourcefire Brings Big Data Analytics-Based Network Security to Malaysia
Sourcefire, Inc., a leader in intelligent cybersecurity solutions, today launches its latest FirePOWER™ appliance family in Malaysia, to protect businesses from advanced malware threats.
The new introduction of Sourcefire FirePOWER can significantly protect networks against sophisticated malware, advanced persistent threats (APTs) and targeted attacks. It also provides visibility and control of modern threats on the network – right from the point of entry, to propagation, and with post-infection remediation.
Advanced Malware Protection for FirePOWER
According to Ivan Wen, Country Manager of Sourcefire Malaysia, it is critical for organizations to take a proactive stance to mitigating the impact of sophisticated malware that can very quickly permeate a network.

“The Sourcefire’s FirePOWER minimizes the propagation of advanced malware by creating forensic fingerprints of files to identify known malware, track file movement and identify attack targets for focused remediation.”
“With Sourcefire’s big data analytics capabilities, this advanced malware protection also delivers continuous file analysis and retrospective alerting to notify users of malicious files. It provides similar protection for devices, enabling visibility into malware trajectory, and rapid cleanup to avoid re-infection.”
Expands FirePOWER Appliance Range
The three new models of the FirePOWER appliances include FirePOWER 7010 (50 Mbps), FirePOWER 7020 (100 Mbps) and the FirePOWER 7030 (250 Mbps).
In conjunction of the launch of this new FirePOWER devices range, the latest Sourcefire’s 5.1.1 software is also release to serve as the foundation to enhance network awareness and strengthen threat prevention.
Ivan shares, “The FirePOWER 7000 Series appliance lineup and the new Sourcefire 5.1.1 software features file-type detection and control, as well as security intelligence for IP reputation and blacklisting. With the new models, Sourcefire’s performance range now spans from 50 Mbps to 40+ Gbps.”
The latest FirePOWER appliance family comprises Next-Generation Intrusion Prevention Systems (NGIPS), application control, Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) models, and advanced malware protection under one universal security platform to support the industries’ evolving security needs.
“Adding advanced malware protection for FirePOWER has significantly expanded our product benefits to help local companies combat threats before, during and after an attack,” ends Ivan.
For Malaysia, both advanced malware protection for FirePOWER and 5.1.1 are available at the end of November, with the new FirePOWER 7000 series appliance within the next three months.
