Personal Cloud Service Follows Maxis’ Business Cloud Services

Maxis Berhad has announced Loker, Malaysia’s first personal cloud service which can be accessed on multiple devices. All Maxis subscribers who sign up to Loker are also entitled to 5GB free storage. Besides being able to sync, store and share pictures, videos, music and contacts from pones, tablets or PCs, they will also be able to share them on  popular social networking sites ie. Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and email.

T. Kugan, Head of Product, Device, Innovation & Roaming said, “Recent trends have shown that Malaysians are one of the most active in sharing their experiences online using pictures and videos, and Maxis customers have led the way in this area. We are pleased to provide the Loker service that will enable them to continue to do so safely and securely without the limitations of physical storage on their devices. With Loker, our customers will have the freedom to store a much higher volume of digital content.”

He added that 5GB is equivalent to 5,000 pictures or 2,500 songs. All content in a customer’s Loker account is stored in the Maxis Cloud, and is assured privacy and security as per guidelines set by local regulator, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

Maxis Loker will automatically backup and sync content via Maxis 3G service or whenever there is WiFi available. Currently, the service is now available on Android and Blackberry devices, as well as PCs and Macs. If 5GB isn’t enough, there is option to upgrade to 10GB for RM15 per month or 25GB for RM25 per month.

A business-version of the Maxis Cloud capability was launched last August. To date it has implemented various integrated products and services running on their cloud for enterprises, such as Business Mobility Solutions and Built for SME Retail Solutions.
