Malaysia’s 5G Taskforce convene before the new year
Malaysia has a 5G taskforce, 5GT or Malaysian 5G Taskforce, that is likely looking into the development of 5G connectivity technology in Malaysia. This taskforce recently held their first meeting at the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) headquarters. MCMC’s Chief Officer Mohd Ali Hanafiah chaired the meeting together with the taskforce’s deputy, Muniff Kamaruddin from Celcom.
This taskforce and its four sub-working groups are to produce monthly reports to Mr. Gobind Singh, with a comprehensive report slated to be ready by Q3 of 2019.
These 4 working groups will each look into business use cases, spectrum management allocation, infrastructure and regulation, respectively. The task force overall, comprises of 31 permanent members from the various parts of the ecosystem – service providers, equipment vendors, academia, associations, ministries and agencies.
