F-secure celebrates 10 years of cybersecurity in Malaysia
As part of its 10-year anniversary celebrations, F-Secure, a leading global online security provider, reinforced its continuous commitment to Malaysians today by revealing new strategic plans for a cyber threat-free nation.
While the demand for cyber security in Malaysia has increased, the growing amount and variety of connected devices and digital services will continue to pose security challenges for both businesses and individuals. In an increasingly connected world, F-Secure is prepared to capitalize on by working to provide digital freedom for everyone.
“As we celebrate a memorable milestone in Malaysia today, I am proud to share that over the past decade, we helped ensure Internet freedom and security in the fight against thousands of different malware families. This achievement, and the progression of growth in the country underlines our overall strategy of growing from an antivirus company to a cyber security leader,” commented Christian Fredrikson, President and Chief Executive Officer of F-Secure.
Strategic plans for the future
As the Asia Pacific headquarters for the region, F-Secure has contributed a total of RM270 million to the Malaysian economy over the past decade. With that, the company aims to increase its investment efforts in supporting its future plans during the coming years, and to help steer Malaysia toward enjoying a safer digital environment.
A PwC report revealed that 74% of SMBs in Malaysia experienced online attacks last year[1]. The figure is particularly troubling given that the SMB sector is expected to grow within the next five years[2]. F-Secure recognizes the severity of this threat, as well as the importance in delivering premium security solutions to help protect these companies from cyber attacks.
“Due to the explosive growth in the number of Internet-connected devices both in business and in our private lives, cyber threats will continue to grow rapidly and evolve in both scope and sophistication. It has then become a crucial need for businesses, especially SMBs, to protect themselves with cutting-edge threat prevention and detection solutions which F-Secure can provide on a holistic level,” adds Fredrikson.
As part of its holistic new approach to cyber security, F-Secure also announced a new release of its flagship endpoint security solution that is driving strong success and fast growth. The Protection Service for Business solution includes new web security features, plus a redesigned management portal that’s much more efficient for administrators. It is also the only solution on the market with centrally managed computer, mobile and server security with integrated patch management and mobile device management.
“There is still untapped potential for the growth of cyber security in Malaysia, and we look forward to the next decade of defending Malaysians from digital threats through a holistic mix of our deep cyber security expertise, along with our solutions and services,” concluded Fredrikson.
In conjunction with its 10-year anniversary, F-Secure recently gave out 3000 free license keys for its popular FREEDOME VPN solution. F-Secure FREEDOME lets the user choose a virtual location, so that they can surf safely online and stay hidden from hackers, trackers and intrusive advertisers. It also provides Wi-Fi protection and encryption, so that the user can enjoy complete digital freedom, security and privacy.
