Epson marks 5th anniversary of ink tank system with new range
2015 marks a significant milestone in the printing industry: it is the fifth anniversary of the world’s first branded ink tank system printers since they first launched in Southeast Asia. Introduced in 2010[1] by Epson, the L-Series ink tank system printers have successfully helped businesses and home users enjoy unsurpassed lowest printing costs[2] while the range progressively added and upgraded models with increasing performance and features. To date, over two million Epson ink tank system printers have been sold in Southeast Asia alone.
To celebrate the fifth anniversary and success of the L-Series, Epson has refreshed the entire range with powerful new models that bring significant performance improvements to the series.
“The Epson L-Series was specially designed for Southeast Asia, and its great success over these past five years affirms its popularity among the over two million customers in the region who have bought it since its launch,” says Shimizu Tomoya, Country Manager, Epson Malaysia. “We will continue to improve the L-Series while committing to provide the world’s lowest printing costs it has become famous for.”
Key Features
Improved ISO speeds – The models in the new range are capable of high ISO print speeds of up to 9.2ppm black and 4.5ppm colour, as well as high draft speeds of up to 33ppm black and 15ppm colour. The improvement in print speeds increases the productivity of the L-series, and better-matches its high volume printing capability.
Unsurpassed lowest printing costs in the world – Since the L-series’ launch five years ago in Southeast Asia, it has been unsurpassed in providing the lowest cost per page (black and colour combined). Each bottle of ink costs only US$5.50, and each set has an ultra-high yield of 6,500 pages for colour or 4,000 pages for black.
Ultra high performing and reliable Epson Micro Piezo printhead – The Epson L-Series printers were created utilising Epson’s multi award-winning Micro Piezo technology. Highly reliable and more durable than competing thermal printhead technology, Micro Piezo printheads are built into the printer and are capable of printing high volumes. This allows the L-Series printers to achieve a low running cost while still providing high quality prints. The Micro Piezo printhead achieves a maximum print resolution of 5760 x 1440 dpi and its variable size droplet technology (VSDT) allows the printhead to eject ink droplets in multiple sizes, ensuring the greatest detail and extremely smooth gradations in documents or photographs.
Print wirelessly from mobile devices and the cloud with Epson Connect – The new L-Series models with Wi-Fi connectivity allow users to print and scan wirelessly from their mobile devices. The L365 and L565 support Epson Connect, which is a suite of mobile printing solutions that includes Epson iPrint, Epson Email Print, Remote Print Driver and Scan to Cloud[3]. Third party mobile printing solutions, Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print and Mopria Print Service, are also available for the L565.
