Backup 12 – Acronis’ Promise
3 Clicks to Install, 2 Times Faster than Closest Competitor, World’s Fastest Restore in 15 Seconds or Less
This promise was unveiled at launches of Acronis’ latest star offering, Acronis Backup 12, across the world this week. Acronis identifies itself as a gold bearer for hybrid cloud data protection through its backup, cloud storage, disaster recovery, and secure file sync and share solutions.
And Acronis Backup 12 is touted to be a game-changing new solution. It is designed to be the backup solution that provides complete protection for digital business assets that are not confined to a single device or location.
According to the latest report released by Network Testing Labs this week, Acronis Backup 12 has largely outperformed other competitors. It only takes 35.6 minutes to backup a 180GB virtual machine, compared to higher numbers with anything else on the market. And restoring lost data will be possible in seconds.
Succintly put, Acronis Backup 12 provides:
- Recovery time objectives (RTO) in 15 seconds – via Acronis Instant Restore™, RTO is reduced to seconds by running any physical or virtual Windows or Linux system backup as a VMware or Hyper-V virtual machine – a huge “Plus” for business continuity needs in today’s ‘always-on’ business.
- Virtual host backup – Backs up VMware ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V hosts (not just VMs) and recovers them to dissimilar hardware for complete protection of virtual infrastructures.
- Cloud convergence with new unified web console – Makes it easier than ever for IT managers to converge cloud and on-premises data protection by backing up and managing all individual workload environments, including on-premises and cloud, physical systems, virtual hosts and machines, and cloud workloads, from a single place on any device.
- New hybrid cloud architecture – Provides broad platform support of current backup solutions on the market, allowing IT Managers to back up on-premises physical and virtual systems, as well as Microsoft Azure VMs and Amazon EC2 instances.
- Complete protection for PCs, Macs, and mobile devices – Supports today’s latest platforms and devices, enabling IT Managers to back up Microsoft Windows PCs and Tablets, Macs, iPads, iPhones and any Android devices to protect every endpoint of every user.
Acronis Backup 12 will be able to support Microsoft infrastructure and applications, including Microsoft Exchange, Office365, SharePoint, Active Directory, Windows Server, Windows PC, Hyper-V, Azure, as well as Azure Stack. The product stakes a claim in also being the first commercially available solution to support the upcoming release of Microsoft Windows Server 2016, including Hyper-V with resilient change tracking.
Giving IT custodians control of data
With Acronis Backup 12, businesses will have complete control over the location of their data, systems and backups. IT managers will always know where their company data is located and who has access to it, even when stored in the cloud.
If data is lost, the range of recovery options is vast: file, email and database recovery; system recovery, including bare-metal recovery, active restore, instant restore, and vmFlashBack; cloud disaster recovery; and physical data shipment. Acronis Backup 12 also enables IT Managers to migrate data, applications and systems to any platform.
Talk about giving control back to the custodians of IT in an enterprise!
A little background
Acronis International GmbH, simply known as Acronis, is a privately held technology company founded in 2001 by Serquei Beloussov, Max Tsypliaev, Ilya Zubarev and Stanislav Protassov, as a separate business unit within SWsoft. In 2003, Acronis was spun off as a separate company.
The Russian-born Serquei Beloussov, who left Acronis in 2007 to pursue other ventures, returned to helm the company in 2013. He has made Singapore his base and in fact, has become a naturalized citizen there. Singapore is his launchpad into Asia – envisioned as the biggest growth region for the company. It is already leading the hybrid cloud data protection space in Japan, Australia and naturally, Singapore.
Regionally, it counts Panasonic, Sony, Nanyang Technology University and Singtel as its customers. Globally, Acronis protects 5,000 petabytes of data for over 5 million consumers and 500,000 businesses in over 145 countries.
Walking the talk – Partnership with F1’s Scuderia Toro Rosso
Technological innovation, speed and precision are the key factors uniting Scuderia Toro Rosso and Acronis. To solidify its promise of being the world’s fastest data protection product (todate), Acronis sponsored Scuderia Toro Rosso for the Hungarian Round. After all, Formula 1 is the fastest and most technologically advanced data intensive sport on earth and Acronis opines that it is a perfect fit.
“Scuderia Toro Rosso competes in the highest category of Motorsport and Acronis subscribes to its philosophy of success – focusing on a combination of personal ingenuity, team unity and cutting-edge technologies and engineering. We are proud to be associated with Scuderia Toro Rosso as the main launch partner for Acronis Backup12,” said Beloussov.
In a show of confidence for the product, Team Principal Franz Tost pronounced, “We are very happy that Acronis has chosen our team to celebrate the speed and technological excellence of Acronis Backup 12, for a partnership on occasion of the Hungarian race in Budapest on July 24th.” It is claimed that before the car completes one full lap, Acronis Backup 12 users will be able to restore more than five servers.
“In our competitive environment it is important to use the latest software to protect all of our technical information. The release of Acronis Backup 12 is welcomed by Scuderia Toro Rosso because it provides the high level of data protection and flexibility that we need,” added Raffaele Boschetti, Head of IT for the Scuderia Toro Rosso Formula 1 Racing Team. “We can’t wait to start working with Acronis on adopting their data protection products within our factory and race team.”
After all, shaving milliseconds from the lap time can make the difference between winning and losing. Reducing data recovery time from the industry-standard of 15 minutes to less than 15 seconds can make the difference between business success and demise.
As they say, “The proof of the pudding is in the eating!” The industry will watch with bated breath to see if the partnership with Scuderia Toro Rosso can transfigure from a one-off sponsorship in Hungary to a long-term meaningful partnership for many more F1 races to come.
