Securely bridging the gap between people and ideas

The network is the backbone that connects organisations, individuals, and objects, producing tremendous data and insights, and opening up opportunities for new user experiences. This infrastructure is imperative to accelerate digitalisation of an organisation, and foreseeing a boom in demand for secure networks, Juniper Network has announced new wireless APs.

Specially designed for these unusual times, these new products extend the benefits of the AI-driven user experiences to additional industry verticals and use cases, as well as to workers at home.

Since last August, despite lockdowns all around the world, Juniper Networks had announced these four new wireless products and even the fourth iteration of their vision for the AI-driven enterprise that brings insight and troubleshooting driven by Mist AI to SD-WAN for better end-to-end user experiences.

In recognising that the world is heading towards being a low-touch economy where social distancing will be the norm, Juniper Networks foresees that the network has to be able to replace the vast gaps between people and ideas.

Especially now, businesses in Malaysia need network innovation to connect these ideas and unleash their potential, and Juniper Networks addresses this with a unique approach that is intelligent, secure and agnostic to any environment.

What transpires would be a simplified process for organisations, thanks to secure and automated networks.

Remote working and the spectre of cyberattacks

The rise in remote work has never been more critical for companies to stay up and running during these pandemic times. COVID-19 brought about realisation about how critical the network is to connect remote workers in Malaysia. This is reflected in the additional investment for more coverage and capacity by all the major telcos in Malaysia when we underwent our first MCO.

While the coronavirus may have catalysed digital transformation in organisations and businesses, another virus, one that is of the cybersecurity kind, lurks in the horizon.

While the coronavirus may have catalysed digital transformation in organisations and businesses, another virus, one that is of the cybersecurity kind, lurks in the horizon.

A Vanson Bourne IT survey commissioned by Juniper Networks, discovered 97-percent of respondents say their companies face challenges securing their organisation’s network effectively.

When employees brought their company laptops and devices home to work, the attack surface had increased massively. Most organisations were caught off guard when employees began accessing company data located within corporate firewalls, from outside the organisation’s defense perimeters. Other companies that used software-as-a-service to access company data and applications via a web browser found the frequency of security events increasing.

But stopping work, is not an option.

Enterprise-class solutions for home and cost-conscious environments

What happened was that employees on unsecured home networks were logging onto enterprise networks to be able to do their work. Statistics have demonstrated that work productivity actually increased during these lockdowns and the use of digital tools and devices increased as well.

But the security of these networks, devices and tools become vulnerable to severe compromise. To exacerbate matters, potential threats are next to impossible to mitigate because devices and tools are located outside enterprise networks, leaving IT administrators blind to who and what is accessing networks and company information.

Juniper Networks’ latest wireless APs can address this complication by extending the benefits of enterprise-class features to the home. When one of these wireless access points are located in your home, you are able to take advantage of insight, automation, performance and actions delivered by Juniper’s artificial intelligence capability, called Juniper Mist AI.

Automation and insight are now affordable for homes and cost-conscious segments in industries like  retail, education, and more. It is also a way to literally extend the AI-driven enterprise to home environments.

Eye on the enemy

Network security is enhanced by hardware products that deliver enterprise-grade, and AI-driven features to wherever the remote worker may be working at. With zero-touch provisioning, the remote worker with a client-based VPN solution needs to only plug in a Mist-enabled Access Point to their broadband router, and networking and security policies are automatically configured in minutes.

This creates the important foundation for IT professionals to be able to see what they are protecting and who they are protecting against. Having this information is crucial to be able to adapt access to corporate networks almost as soon as a compromise is detected. Juniper’s Connected Security Strategy is further enhanced by software solutions that ready an organisation for combat against threats.

For this to work, network visibility and consistent policy enforcement across all devices no matter where they may be, is key to reducing the threat risk.

Juniper’s newly launched Secure Connect VPN application offers deep visibility and extends security policy and access control beyond offices. This capability follows the worker wherever they work from, and ensures consistent user experiences at all points of connection across the network.

ATP Cloud’s Adaptive Threat Profiling automatically creates the security intelligence that organisations need to see attackers and the asset they are targeting.

This security intelligence feed combined with traffic classification, gives further context for IT administrators to decide their next move – inspect further or block the traffic. This response is in real-time and at scale.
