Huawei signs MoU with Xiamen University Malaysia Campus

Huawei Malaysia signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Xiamen University Malaysia Campus. The MoU sees the two parties jointly plan and discuss developing a future-oriented ICT enabled campus in Malaysia.

As per the MoU, Huawei and  Xiamen University Malaysian Campus will consider the deployment of a high-quality, high-bandwidth, and high-reliability campus network with a significant TCO (total cost of ownership) saving. The two parties are also aiming to establish a joint teaching lab in the Malaysia campus of Xiamen University to transfer Huawei’s latest ICT technologies the students.

The collaborations will create a competitive advantage for students of Xiamen University through education reform leveraging on new-age technology. With this MoU, Huawei is bringing its first Smart Campus to Malaysia after similar initiatives in emerging and developed markets including United Kingdom, America among others.

Xiamen University is a leading comprehensive university in China which was founded by Malaysian Chinese Tan Kah Kee in 1921. Now, 93 years later, Xia Men University has repaid by setting up a campus in Malaysia, which is the first Chinese university to build an overseas branch.

The campus will be located in the vicinity of Bandar Kota Warisan in Malaysia’s Selangor State, just 15 minutes ride from the country’s administrative center of Putrajaya or 45 km southwest of Kuala Lumpur.

The XMUMC campus is located in the vicinity of Bandar Kota Warisan, Sepang, Selangor, just 15 minutes’ drive from the Government Administrative Center in Putrajaya. It is built on an area of 150 acres with a planned total floor space of 470,000 m² and will provide on-campus accommodation to all enrolled students.

The teaching staff of XMUMC comprises distinguished professors of XMU, and high-grade teachers to be recruited from around the globe. XMUMC will offer bachelor, master and doctoral programmes, which are similar to those offered at XMU’s campuses in China.
