Dell Launches New Lineup of Cutting-Edge Commercial Devices
Dell had commissioned a study, conducted by Forrester Consulting, to investigate the key challenges and drivers that businesses are facing in the adoption of workforce enablement technology. Tellingly, the key findings were:
- Three in five respondents (63%) indicated that improving customer experience is a top business priority
- Nearly half of respondents (48%) stated that better devices that improve information flow across the organisation will be helpful in retaining talent
- More than half of respondents (53%) said that security breaches are a PC lifecycle management challenge
“The workforce of today is a highly interconnected one with new technologies empowering people to perform at their best. IT and business leaders are embarking on a workforce transformation strategy as they need to equip their workforce with the right devices and software to optimise productivity,” said Rakesh Mandal, Director & General Manager, Client Solutions, South Asia and Korea, Dell. “Furthermore, employee experience is a critical factor in boosting financial revenue and enhancing customer revenue – a continuing priority for Southeast Asia companies as they move into the new age digital economy.”
According to Forrester Consulting, “Business leaders know that to succeed, they need committed and driven employees who understand the value their work delivers to customers and have the right tools to boost their productivity. But attracting and retaining the best talent is a growing challenge, forcing many organisations to look to ideal technology partners that can help manage device lifecycles and, more specifically, PC life cycles.”
Following its nose, at the Dell Work Better Anywhere showcase in Kuala Lumpur recently, Dell announced a new lineup of commercial devices powered by the latest 7th Gen Intel Core processors, that aim to do just that – putting the right tools into the hands of their valued employees. The new line-up includes the following high-performance laptops which had garnered awards:
- Dell Latitude 5285 2-in-1 (Innovation Awards Honoree)
- Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 (Innovation Awards Honoree, Computer Hardware and Components category)
These products were honoured with CES 2017 Innovation Awards given by the Consumer Electronics Association. Designed with the future workforce in mind, Dell aims to ‘push the envelope’ of innovation to give businesses and professionals the latest technology with cutting-edge design and functionality.
“At Dell, we understand that the workforce of today is highly mobile and interconnected. We’re constantly striving to deliver the best user experience and performance for all of our customers – no matter which product line they choose,” said KT Ong, Country Manager – Commercial, Malaysia, Dell EMC. “With our latest line of commercial products, we’re helping people collaborate more seamlessly, be more productive and create new immersive experiences at the workplace.”
Dell commercial devices refresh
At the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in the US, Dell unveiled innovations that redefined personal computing. Dell also upgraded its line of OptiPlex, Latitude and Precision commercial products with 7th Gen Intel Core processors, USB-C with Thunderbolt 3 connectivity options and updated professional graphics from NVIDIA and AMD.
This underscores Dell’s commitment to customer demands for thin and light professional products that do not compromise on productivity, security and manageability. For example, Dell expands its leadership in workstations with the Precision 5520, the world’s lightest 15-inch mobile workstation. The award-winning 12-inch Latitude 5000 Series 2-in-1 was also added to the lineup.
Latitude – Business laptop for mobile professionals
The award-winning 12-inch Dell Latitude 5285 2-in-1 weighs less than 1kg and features a unique auto-deploy kickstand that extends up to 150 degrees for multiple viewing angles and has multiple connectivity options. In fact, the auto-deploy kickstand is an industry-first feature designed for a smooth work experience.
The new Latitude 5285 2-in-1 is just the first introduction of Dell’s most secure 2-in-1 with the power of a laptop and flexibility of a tablet. Recognising that security goes well with style, Dell has redesigned the new Latitude and included an optional keyboard providing young professionals with a better range of price points and systems ready to work comfortably however they choose.
Working professionals can now work worry-free with powerful security solutions built into the Latitude 5285 2-in-1. Dell Data Protection includes Endpoint Security Suite Enterprise, Secure Lifecycle and Encryption for outstanding security that’s easily managed from one console. The Latitude 5285 2-in-1 also comes with Dell ControlVault, which provides the strongest authentication capabilities available. It stores and protects passwords, biometric authentication, and security codes, ensuring that your credentials will be secured no matter where your work takes you.
Dell Precision workstations are considered the highest performing and fully customisable workstations certified with professional applications. The new Precision 5520 mobile workstation is the thinnest, lightest and smallest 15” mobile workstation with 7th Gen Intel processors and PremierColor4K InfinityEdge display making it beautiful and powerful at the same time.
Productivity is one key area which is truly impressive across all Precision workstations. The Dell Precision Optimiser takes the guesswork out of customising settings and automatically tunes your workstation to run the most popular Independent Software Vendor (ISV) applications at the fastest speeds possible.
OptiPlex – Micro size with enhanced productivity
For desktop lovers looking for space-saving designs, Dell has redefined the desktop experience with an updated line of OptiPlex small and micro form factor desktops. These sleek products provide full desktop performance and productivity in compact chassis with advanced security and manageability and multiple mounting options.
Every OptiPlex 5050 is available with Dell Command Suite, making driver, BIOS and firmware updates easier. These free tools allow flexible and automated BIOS or systems configurations, allowing businesses to manage their fleet easily and securely every time. Building on that success, the updated line of OptiPlex comes equipped with Intel Standard Manageability which allows for remote and basic out-of-band management capabilities for increased productivity and lower risk.
XPS 13 2-in-1 – Designed for the home and business
The world’s smallest 13-inch 2-in-1 (based on Principled Technologies Report of November 2016, defined as the total surface area of the notebooks) offers a 360-degree hinge for multiple productivity and viewing options using Continuum, with up to 15 hours of battery life and eye-popping clarity with a gorgeous QHD+ (5.7M pixels) InfinityEdge touch display—another first for a 2-in-1.
The fan-less design keeps it silent and the quick-booting solid state drive has it up and running in seconds. And for working professionals, the XPS 13 2-in-1 functions as a business laptop with security features and can be configured with 7th Gen Intel Core vPro processors, Dell BIOS and manageability software—all backed by Dell’s global ProSupport services.
